River Management Society

Risa Shimoda, Executive Director - River Management Society (RMS) knew she was facing challenges with her logo on social media platforms. Getting the existing RMS logo to fit in those small profile pictures just wasn’t working.

On a phone call with the head members of the RMS Board and my discovery phase, I was able to create an instantly recognizable logo. During my discovery process, I learned about the anatomy of a river and an oxbow lake is a lake that is formed by a river during flooding. A turn in a lake gets sealed on both ends from debris and makes this beautiful shape. Without the river, an oxbow lake is nonexistent. I was able to make the connection for RMS – without the members, the society is nothing.

With that concept in mind, I pushed forward by developing a logo with a humanoid shape. It was a huge hit amongst the head members of the RMS Board. Community, water, and the shape of an oxbow lake.

Paddling Life

Paddling Life’s mission is to support and grow paddlesports and keep the sport's stoke alive. After meeting with the team at Paddling Life, their mission couldn’t be more fitting. It was an honor to help grow this important facet of outdoor enjoyment as they engage with the paddlesports community. They were after a logo that was versatile enough to speak to all paddlers from rafters to whitewater kayakers and standup paddleboarders to sea kayakers.

Squatch Shots

Kacey Randall is a high school friend who runs a photography business. I made his logo for him over a decade ago. It was time for a refresh and also a great opportunity to see how far I’ve grown in my design skills. Visit his instagram page @squatchshots.
